On July 12 at 19:00 in the Transcarpathian Regional Universal Scientific Library, there will be the screening of the documentary film "Close Relations" by world famous director Vitaliy Mansky.
The film tells the life story of the director and his family living in different parts of Ukraine: Lviv, Odesa, the Donbas and the Crimea. The author, by studying his own family, explores the nature of the situation in which citizens of one country ended up on opposite sides of the barricades, members of one family stopped talking to each other because of different views. Another plotline of the film covers the author’s view on the roots of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
The world premiere of the film "Close Relations" was held on July 5, 2016 at the International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, where it was in the documentary competition program. On July 20, the Ukrainian premiere of the motion picture took place at the Odesa International Film Festival in the "Special Screenings" section.
On September 14, 2016, the film was shown at the International Film Festival in Toronto, where it competed for the People’s Choice Documentary Award in the documentary programs TIFF DOCS. On October 14 that year, "Close Relations" opened the Riga International Film Festival.
The screening will be held under the project "Limit". It is a social art project in the form of short-term residences to establish dialogue between the inhabitants of far apart cities of Ukraine – Slovyansk and Uzhgorod.
