In Uzhgorod several candidates are already planning to pay money for votes

These elections are the most problematic since 2004, said Oleksandr Chernenko, chairman of the NGO "Committee of Voters of Ukraine", during a press conference held today, October 15, at the press center "Transcarpathia". – In many ways, the problems are caused by the law on a mixed system. We have seen many procedural inconsistencies that allowed to form election commissions without the balance of political forces. We have 226 constituencies: 225 single-mandate and one all-Ukrainian. There are constituencies, where the leaders are obvious, and there are those where several forces have equal opportunities. We are seeing more and more violations in such constituencies, where there is a serious struggle. In Donetsk region there is an average of 8 candidates for one constituency, in Kyiv this number is 40.

According to Mr. Oleksandr, in Transcarpathia the situation is calmer than in Ukraine. There is a competition, but not as fierce as in some other constituencies.

"According to our monitoring the biggest problem is bribing of voters. In Uzhgorod, according to my information, several candidates already started handing out money. We record such schemes already in more than ten constituencies throughout Ukraine. This is a big problem and our organization will pay special attention to this" – says Chernenko.
