According to the decisions of today’s city council session, new street names will appear in Uzhgorod. Some of the streets appeared not so long ago – in connection with the emergence of new residential neighbourhoods. Thus, the new streets of the city will bear the names of the distinguished Ukrainians – Stepan Bandera, Ivan Mazepa and Simon Petliura.
One of the streets was named after Mykhailo Tyvodar – ethnologist, professor of the Uzhgorod National University. The square (at the corner of Vakarov and Pidhirna streets) was named after Gavrilo Gluck.
By another decision, the city council renamed Peremoha street into Kapushanska street. The rest of the street names listed in the draft decision were left unchanged.
Recall that it was planned to rename Ivan Firtsak street to Vasyl Svyda street; Meysarosh street to Anton Kashshay street; Dekabristy street to Meysarosh street.
