Today, in Uzhgorod, Transcarpathian activists "buried" the hryvnia.
About 30 Transcarpathian foreign currency borrowers for the second time gathered near the building of the NBU office in Transcarpathian region. This time they came with wreaths and a doll dressed as a homeless, which symbolized their future, unless the NBU undertakes to remedy the situation – the correspondent of the IA ZIK informed.
On the sign of the NBU, they attached a tape with the words "Funeral Parlor" and put mourning tulips on the door.
The organizer of the campaign – "Credit Maidan" – in this way responded to the words of the head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva, who said that Ukrainians would have to give banks their apartments to repay debts.
The representative of the NBU in Transcarpathian region who came out to the people could not explain anything. She only advised people to contact their commercial banks and solve problems with them. Those depositors, whose banks have been liquidated, were advised to contact the Deposit Guarantee Fund in Kyiv.
Outraged Transcarpathian borrowers instead accused the NBU in the devaluation of the hryvnia and called the exchange rate "spoiled goods". After that, the protesters collected signatures under a petition to the President P. Poroshenko requesting to dismiss V. Gontareva.
