Officers of Uzhgorod police tracked down the man who tried to pay in a shop in the village of Kontsovo with cartridges.
The police received a call from a worker of a shop in the village of Kontsovo in Uzhgorod district. The woman said that one of the clients of the shop wanted to buy food and pay for it with ammunition. The man was short of money, so he suggested the seller a barter.
Operatives and patrol policemen of Uzhgorod department tracked down the man and seized from him a package with 21 cartridges of 7,62 mm caliber. The owner of the ammunition was a 54-year-old resident of Uzhgorod. The man explained that he had found the dangerous package at the dump. The ammunition was sent for examination.
A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives. This offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to five years.
