In Uzhgorod boiler modules of educational institutions still have not come into operation

Today, September 19, the regular meeting of the executive committee of Uzhgorod City Council was held.First of all the participants were informed about the preparation of municipal economy for the heating season. As the Director of Municipal economy department Oleksiy Kasperov informed, 839 houses out of 932 are already prepared for use in winter conditions, 115 out 117 planned roofs repairs have been completed. In preparation for the heating season the porches have been whitewashed, and maintenance of water supply network have been performed.   

Also the establishment of an autonomous electric heating for low-income residents of Uzhgorod was discussed at the meeting.  Now this project is stuck at the stage of preparation of technical documents, but by mid-October, with promises of public utilities, 205 apartments will be warm. Actually, it turned out that those are not all the residents of Uzhgorod who need help in installing heating. In the Department of Municipal Economy there are 210 more similar applications from Uzhgorod citizens, another 200 apartment owners are ready to buy convectors themselves, but ask to assist in making the project design and installation of multi-electric meter. That needs about 2.5 million UAH more, but at the meeting of the executive committee it was not clearly announced whether people can expect the money from the city budget already this year.

Not all is well in the regional center about the boilers, which should provide heating in institutions of education, medicine and culture. As the head of the Department of Education Marian Komarnicki said, out of 42 boilers in schools and kindergartens only two are not ready – in linguistic school (actually, they are installing electric heating there) and in pre-school number 36. All the rest are theoretically ready to start the heating season, only the new modular boilers, that city officials in an emergency order installed last year, still have not been put into operation, which may lead to the fact that gas companies will again refuse to supply gas to them.

Healthcare institutions in Uzhgorod are also ready for winter only partially, because repairs of boilers in Central City Hospital and Children’s Hospital started just recently. Ivano-Frankivsk firm promises that the hospital boilers will be ready by October 1. In general, the members of the executive committee adjourned the consideration of the preparation for the heating period to the next, extraordinary, meeting.
