Airing his apartment on the ground floor, an Uzhgorod resident lost his money.
Recently, a 27-year-old sole proprietor reported to Uzhgorod city police that an unknown person had stolen from his apartment 1,300 hryvnias, which were in the fridge in the kitchen.
The investigative team of the city police immediately arrived at the scene. It turned out that the thief had no trouble sneaking into the apartment. The apartment is located on the ground floor of a high-rise in Uzhgorod. The balcony is not glazed. Moreover, the balcony door was ajar – the victim had left it so to ventilate the appatment.
Detectiives of the Criminal Investigation of Uzhgorod city police found out that the theft had been committed by a previously convicted 41-year-old city resident. He had already committed similar offenses and offenses related to narcotic drugs. About a year ago, he came out of a prison, but fell back into old habits.
Currently, the criminal proceeding has been opened against the thief under Part 3 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft, coupled with breaking and entering). This Article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 3 to 6 years.
The offender is being interrogated by police officers. The investigation is ongoing.

Close the windows and vents, especially if you live on the ground or top floor or in apartments, located near the fire stairs and aisles. Equip doors with secure locks and bars. Do not leave valuables or large sums of money at home.
