In Uzhgorod, a disaster may happen due to a malfunction of sewage treatment plants

The equipment of the primary septic tank of the sewage treatment facilities located on Yenkivska street has failed.

This was reported by the Uzhgorod City Council.

An unplanned meeting of the Commission on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies regarding the emergency situation at the treatment facilities took place today in Uzhgorod.

The director of the MU "Vodokanal of Uzhgorod" Stanislav Kartashov said: the equipment of the primary septic tank of the sewage treatment facilities located on Yenkivska street has failed.

The failure of one of the four existing septic tanks can lead to deterioration in the quality of wastewater treatment and, as a result, discharge of inadequately purified water into the river.

After the discussion, members of the commission decided that it was necessary to take measures without delay, as this situation could turn into disaster. The commission members agreed that it is urgent to start work on the accident relief, to find opportunities for allocating funds, and also, if necessary, to get specialized contractors involved. This issue will be submitted to the session of Uzhgorod City Council for consideration.
