In Uzhgorod a deputy committee will be dealing with the issue of regional languages

The last item on the agenda on today’s session of the city council was the draft decision "On approval of the Provision on the learning in regional or minority languages ​​in public schools of Uzhgorod." It was prepared by deputies Shafar and Bahanych.

As Jaroslav Shafar explained, it involves procedural issues related to the educational process in the city schools and kindergartens. As noted by the deputy, despite the requirements of the "language" law, in Uzhgorod not a penny is provided in the budget for its implementation. "It’s not about political things, but about the mechanism of learning" – said Mr. Yaroslav.

The city council, however, did not adopt the draft decision, noting that this issue should be thoroughly explored. That is what the deputy committee, including Mykhailo Roshko, Zoltan Kulin, Vasyl Hnatkiv and Victoria Tarakhonych, will be doing. They promised to return to this issue at one of the next parliamentary meetings, having prepared the documents that woukd regulate these matters in educational institutions of the city.
