Yesterday, April 17, at the Tyachiv district state administration, there was a meeting of the antiepidemic commission on the situation with measles in the village of Uhlya and Hrunyky.
According to the head of the educational institution Tetyana Zelenko, since the beginning of April, 54 cases of prolonged fever in children of all ages have been recorded, 15 of which were confirmed to be measles. The school’s administration appealed about that to the education department, the health care department and the relevant authorities to make a decision.
As for the situation in general, according to the head physician Nina Stan, today, 31 children are absent from school, 12 people were referred to the hospital, 2 children with complications – pneumonia – were sent to the infectious department of the district hospital, 10 children are undergoing home treatment.
Thus, it was noted that such number of patients in one month indicates a significant deterioration of the situation with regard to measles and is considered as the outbreak of this infection. The bulk of the patients are children, who have not been vaccinated for various reasons.
The head of the district administration Vasyl Demyanchuk suggested to close Hrunyky school for the week from April 18 to April 23 (Monday) in order to prevent the spread of measles and to reduce contacts between the children during the possible incubation period. Doctors were recommended to continue vaccination of non-vaccinated persons and to report on the progress. Also, they should conduct daily monitoring of the situation, take all necessary measures that will ensure the reduction and termination of the spread of infection in the settlement and this educational institution.
