In two years Transcarpathians will stop selling meat and milk

Starting from January 1, 2015, the sale and circulation of raw milk, homemade cheese and meat from home slaughtered animals shall be prohibited. This is provided by the law "On safety and quality of food," reported the Zaholovok.

The law contains several provisions with very strict requirements, which primarily relate to private households. In particular, it prohibits to sell meat from animals slaughtered in the yard.

The second limitation concerns the slaughter of poultry and rabbits in amount greater than 5 heads. And the third one bans the sale of raw milk at markets.

Experts believe that Ukrainian market faces serious tests, because private farms, which the restrictive rules of law are mostly focused on, have dominant position in this market. As of the beginning of this year, farms produced 45.9% of meat and 70.1% of milk.
