According to the agency, the official was regularly taking money from drivers for unhindered passage of cars with foreign registration through the international checkpoint.
– Investigators of the special service recorded seven facts of receipt of bribes by the customs officer for a total of nine hundred dollars and more than three thousand hryvnias. Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the offender at his workplace, – the Security Service of Ukraine reported.
The head of the department was notified of being suspected of committing a crime, as provided for in Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention with the possibility of bail was imposed on him.
The special operation was conducted by the officers of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime and the Main Investigation Department jointly with the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
The checkpoint "Solotvyno" is located on the border of Ukraine with Romania within Tyachiv district.
