Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine, under the procedural control of the prosecutor’s office, caught on bribe the commander of a platoon of the Patrol Police Office in Uzhgorod and Mukachevo.
Law enforcement officers found out that the police captain had stopped a vehicle for inspection in the regional center. Without any examination, the patrol policeman accused the driver of alcohol intoxication and unjustifiably withdrew the driver’s license and the technical passport. The policeman demanded eleven thousand hryvnias for the documents.
The owner of the car had to hand over the money to a traffic safety inspector of the police. Otherwise, the patrol policeman threatened to draw up a report of driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication against the driver.
The special service officers, with the assistance of the management of the Patrol Police Office, detained the "mediator" when he was receiving the full amount of bribe; both suspects were notified of being suspected of committing a crime envisaged under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine was opened.
The pretrial investigation continues.
