In Transcarpathia, youth and officials cleaned up the St. Miklos castle

On 9-10 of May, 2015, for the second time, the NGO "European School", with the support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration, organized a volunteer project – environmental campaign to clean up the territory of the medieval castle of Saint Miklos in the town of Chynadiyevo.

 This year, several community organizations, including the "United Students" and the Ukrainian cultural and educational center "New Life", joined the campaign. 

Thus, almost fifty activists of the region – pupils and students, coaches and teachers came together for one goal – to help the tenant of the medieval castle Yosyp Bartosz clean up the attractive tourist site in ​​Transcarpathia. In addition to the usual cleaning, the participants of the campaign had a chance to take part in the night tour of the castle with torches, a master-class on medieval dancing, to try on medieval clothes and armor, to shoot a bow, to hike to the Skakalo waterfall. Each project participant received souvenirs from the organizers and volunteer’s gratitude.

Ladislav Pompel, the activist said: "We are grateful to the NGO "European School" for well organized medieval adventure with social campaign to restore the 15th century castle – St. Miklos! Watching the children of the ES, we realized that all is not lost in the country, as long as we have a younger generation like this."
