Two men, who demanded € 27,000 from a new homeowner for unobstructed use of a house, were detained in Transcarpathia
According to the Press Service of the Prosecutor’s Office in Transcarpathian region, the detainees were demanding money from a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk for unimpeded use of a house in Beregovo district, which he had recently purchased through official bidding.
“It was organized by the previous owner of the property. He hired two acquaintances, who had to block the new owner from moving into the house. In general, the offenders demanded from the resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region 27 thousand euros for unobstructed occupancy, threatening to use physical force and destroy the purchased real estate,” – the report reads.
Prosecutors of the Transcarpathian Prosecutor’s Office together with operatives of the Directorate for Strategic Investigation in Transcarpathian region and detectives of the Transcarpathian regional police documented the fact of extortion and receipt of the money by the offenders. Two offenders were detained. They are to be notified of being suspected of extortion by a group of persons with a threat of murder or grievous bodily harm (Part 2 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the choice of pre-trial restraint is being decided.
