The farm for spotted deers was arranged in Transcarpathia back in 1987. Now, more than 260 animals from the Far East are kept in one of the largest deer farms in Ukraine near the village of Izky in Khust district, Uzhgorod.net informs.
They breed animals for a unique product – their young antlers are the source of life-giving substance that is used in the manufacture of various drugs. Every summer, they cut the antlers and sell them to Ternopil pharmaceutical factory, and at the end of winter and in early spring they grow again to become a new source of health.
The living pharmaceutical "factory" needs about a kilogram of grain per day, and the favorite treat of deers is a dried bread. The owners say that none of the visitors refuses to treat Santa Claus’s "transport" and there is no shortage in visitors because tourists come to Transcarpathia to admire the beauty of spotted deers even from Korea and Vietnam.
