In Vynogradiv and Beregovo, there was an outdoor campaign held as part of the "Plan your family’s health!" project implemented by the Uzhgorod Press Club in cooperation with the NGO "Megasocium" and Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Gender Education at UzhNU.
Volunteers handed out to passers-by special printed materials and bright green wristbands in order to attract their attention, especially that of young people, to the importance of issues of reproductive health and family planning. Also, volunteers placed informational posters on message boards.
People were very interested. Older people would take information for the children.
Marianna Kolodiy, the Director of the Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Gender Education said that such initiative was launched in Transcarpathia for the first time, and it was supported by the program "Healthy Women of Ukraine." "Educational campaigns will be implemented across the region – Marianna Kolodiy said. – Today, we have serious problems with family planning, so we strive to increase the number of informed people. It is essential that our couples, young people approached the family planning in a more rational way. And that they were more organized in sexual behavior: used contraceptives properly, etc. Timely education of young people is also a prevention of abortions in Transcarpathia, and of all situations and phenomena associated with unplanned pregnancy and negative sexual experience."
Street campaigns are held in all district centers of Transcarpathia.
