In Transcarpathia, there are surgeons who are degrading – the chief medic of the region

The head of Health Department of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Roman Shnitser, answering journalists’ questions in a TV program "Zone of special attention" on the "Tisa-1" channel, admitted that in our region surgeons perform too few operations.This means that in the region there are a lot of surgeons who are not developing, and even degrading.   

"Today we have a surplus of narrow specialists especially at the secondary level. In district hospitals there are otolaryngologists and pediatric otolaryngologists, surgeons and pediatric surgeons. There is the MOH Order number 208, which clearly defines the qualification requirements to a specialist. For example, a pulmonologist should be able to perform bronchoscopy, thoracoscopy, etc., and only 1 or 2 specialists in the region can actually do it … Cardiologist professionals must not only bear the title but also be able to read cardiogram – Roman Shnitser said.

Secondly, you need to constantly work with patients. The surgeon, who performs less than 200 surgeries per year, is not developing, and if they perform less than 100 surgeries per year they are degrading. If you divide the number of surgeries performed per year by the number of surgeons in Transcarpathia by staff list, you will get 62! That means, there are some doctors who do not fully perform their functions. Why? Because they do not want to? They want to, but there is not enough patients and we have to do something about it. It is necessary that people work every day, develop and grew professionally, thus creating a competitive environment that stimulates quality of work."
