In Transcarpathia, the Security Service of Ukraine closed a channel for smuggling of counterfeit cigarettes to Europe

Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine closed the channel for smuggling of counterfeit cigarettes through Transcarpathia to the EU.
Law enforcement officers stopped a truck, that was moving in the direction of the state border, on the road in one of the mountainous districts of the region. During the inspection of the truck, officers of the Security Service found 225 thousand packs of cigarettes without excise stamps. The value of tobacco products on the "black market" is more than UAH 2.2 million. The truck driver tried to resist the officers of the Security Service and threatened them with a knife. The goods were transported without any documents.
The counterfeit cigarettes were seized.
The criminal proceeding under Part 1 of Art. 201 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Urgent operational-investigative measures are being taken.
