In Transcarpathia, the Security Service of Ukraine caught on bribes a mayor, an official and a deputy of a city council

Officers of the Security Service of Ukraine, National police and prosecutors, during a joint operation, caught on a bribe the mayor of a city in Transcarpathia, a city council official and a local deputy.
Law enforcement officers found out that the mayor of the city together with the head of a department organized a corruption mechanism for allocation of land. Officers of the Security Service recorded the offenders demanding three thousand dollars from a businessman for guaranteed allocation of land to accommodate three outlets. Also, they asked three hundred dollars for issuance of permits for installation works.
Operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine together with officers of the National police and the regional prosecutor’s office arrested the deputy near the City Council while he was receiving the bribe. Simultaneously, they detained the mayor and his subordinate.
Under the criminal proceeding opened under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the detainees were notified of being suspected of a crime.
Urgent operational-investigative measures are being taken.
