During the investigation it was established that the suspect, together with an accomplice – a citizen of a foreign country, tried to destabilize the situation in Transcarpathian region by calling to change the boundaries of the territory and state border of Ukraine.
According to the materials of the investigation, the defendants were collecting signatures of Transcarpathian residents to support a petition to cancel the terms of the Trianon Peace Treaty. According to it, some territories, including part of the lands of the modern Transcarpathian region, seceded in 1920 from the Kingdom of Hungary. The analysis showed that the ballots they used for the poll contained calls to violate the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
As part of a further investigation, officers of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathia are checking the involvement of other individuals and organizations in possible anti-Ukrainian activities. The Prosecutor’s Office of Transcarpathian region ensures procedural control during the pre-trial investigation.
