In Transcarpathia, the sentence of Perechyn district court against a local resident, who organized channel of illegal immigrant smuggling, has come into force.
In late 2014, the man was planning to smuggle illegal migrants to Europe. The organized group included four other local residents. They would meet migrants, find temporary hiding places for illegal immigrants, accompany them during crossing the border, bypassing the checkpoints. The offenders were "working" with several groups of illegal immigrants.
In November 2014, near Perechyn, officers of the Security Service detained cars, in which two members of the group were transporting illegal migrants to the border. Later on the outskirts of Uzhgorod, law enforcement officers detained the organizer of the illegal migration channel.
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region notified the detainees of being suspected under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court convicted the organizer of the crime and sentenced him to 5 years imprisonment with a probation period of 3 years. Four accomplices were also sentenced to various terms of imprisonment.
