Officers of Vynogradiv police are establishing all the circumstances of the accident in the village of Chornotysiv that resulted in the death of a child. The driver has been arrested.
Yesterday, July 5, the rescue service "102" was reported about an accident involving a minor. The applicant stated that in the village of Chornotysiv, on Holovna Street, a driver had run over a cyclist who died from her injuries.
The investigative team and the response team of Vynogradiv department patrol police arrived at the scene and found out that the driver of an "Opel Astra", a 34-year-old man, who was driving from the village of Chepa to Sasovo, in the village of Chornotysiv on Holovna Street, lost control and drove into the oncoming lane. There, a local 12-year-old girl was riding a bicycle. The collision was unavoidable, and the child died from her injuries.
The police tested the driver for the state of intoxication and arrested him under Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine. The vehicle was taken to the impound lot. A criminal proceeding over this incident was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 286 Criminal Code, that is violation of the rules of road safety that caused the victim’s death. This offense is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years. The driver is currently in a temporary detention facility.
