The regional authorities plan to appeal to the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine about termination of the right of use for subsoils of Beregovo gold-polymetallic ore deposits (special permit number 4113 of 16.03.2012) and Muzhiyevo gold-polymetallic deposits (special permit number 5495 of 19.03.2012) granted to the "Carpathian ore company" PJSC.
It is the "Carpathian ore company" that owns Muzhiyevo gold deposit. The firm is controlled by Donetsk businessman Valeriy Bredykhin, partner of the ex-head of the Interior Ministry Vitaliy Zakharchenko.
According to Ukrainian media, Valeriy Bredykhin owned the company "Lynkrust" jointly with Zakharchenko’s wife Lyudmila. In addition, Bredykhin and the former Interior Minister Vitaliy Zakharchenko own the trademark "Trybushany" in Transcarpathia.
The territory of Muzhiyevo deposit in area is 41.7 hectares is in the lease of the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" LLC. However, since 2007, the company stopped its activity because of financial difficulties. Since 2010, the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" LLC has been in a state of dissolution under the judicial decision on bankruptcy.
In order to restore solvency, the "Zakarpatpolimetaly" began selling out the property, which was bought by companies affiliated to Zakharchenko.
