This result was announced by Robert Levitsky, head of the Aquatics Federation of Transcarpathia.
"Today, we have become leaders in water sports in Ukraine. More than 1,000 young swimmers is a significant and high result. And when we talk with colleagues from Ukraine or Slovakia and tell them that more than 1,000 children go in for swimming here, they do not believe these figures. Because, for example, in Kosice, only about 80 children are engaged in swimming," – Robert Levitsky says.
According to the head of the regional federation, at the time its creation in 2007, there was virtually no material resources in the region. And now, we have begun to consider the use of even geothermal springs for development of water sports.
"In this regard, we differ from the rest of the country, because we have the Carpathian artesian plain. We offer the opportunity for the development of Transcarpathia and suggest our city government and all of Ukraine to consider geothermal water as a development potential for the region. What we see today in Bukovel is an example of such work. We have the "green lungs" and we have a geothermal field. The experience of Hungary shows that our neighboring country has built a national policy and economy on geothermal waters", – Robert Levitsky said.
