In Transcarpathia, law enforcement officers found the channel of the delivery of counterfeit products (PHOTOS)

In Transcarpathian region, law enforcement officers found the channel of the delivery of counterfeit tobacco and vodka products intended for illegal sale through local food and trade establishments.

While checking operative information, operative and search units of the Chop border guard detachment carried out joint activities with units of the National Police and the SFS, under the procedural control of the Transcarpathian regional prosecutor’s office. Thus, at the end of September 2020, on the highway Syanky-Uzhgorod, law enforcement officers stopped a vehicle driven by a resident of the village of Zhornava, Velyky Berezny district and found there 3,919 bottles of counterfeit alcohol and 1,000 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps of Ukraine for a total of about 150 thousand hryvnias. The actions of the person were classified under Part 1 of Art. 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Illegal acquisition, storage and transportation for sale of illegally manufactured excisable goods". Subsequently, the results of the examination confirmed the illegal origin of the found excisable goods. During the criminal proceedings initiated based on the materials of the operative and search unit of the Chop border guard detachment, a number of measures aimed at solving this crime were taken. As a result, the carrier of the counterfeit products was notified of being suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 204 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The indictment against the suspect together with the materials of the criminal proceedings was sent to the court for consideration of the case on the merits.
