In Transcarpathia, four men were engaged in illegal logging

It was found out that the men caused damage to the environment and caused losses to the public, the website of the city of Uzhgorod reported. 

Investigators from the Velyky Berezny police department indicted four local residents. The pre-trial investigation established that the men had conspired to illegally cut down trees in the forest. In the morning of May 30, they came to a forest in Velyky Berezny district, where they cut down beech trees and then dargged them from the forest belt.

By their actions, the men caused losses to the public in the amount of more than 75 thousand hryvnias.

The police indicted them on charges of a crime under Part 4 of Art. 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, ie "Illegal felling or illegal transportation, storage, sale of timber."

The investigation is being carried out under the procedural control of the prosecutor’s office, the Communication Department of the Transcarpathian Regional Police reported.
