In Transcarpathia, border guards found nearly 1,000 packs of contraband tobacco products

Employees of the State Border Guard Service continue to take active measures to counter illegal activities at the state border of Ukraine.

Another attempt of tobacco smuggling was prevented yesterday by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment. Thus, a patrol of the department "Dilove" detected a car with Ukrainian registration, which had stopped near the border. Unknown persons came out of the car and started to get from the trunk and throw over the fence packages wrapped in black plastic bags.

Noticing border guards, the violators began to flee, so in order to stop them, soldiers made a warning shot in the air. One of the men was detained. Another offender got into the vehicle and drove at a high speed in the direction of Dilove.

Near the place of detention, border guards found two packages of contraband tobacco products, which contained 960 packs of cigarettes.

The detained smuggler and the cigarettes were taken to the border guard unit.

Currently, the other participant of the failed crime is being identified.
