In Transcarpathia border guards detained smuggler with a car and 12 boxes of cigarettes

An attempt of tobacco smuggling was prevented by border guards of the Mukachevo detachment this morning.

   In the area of the "Solotvyno" department, border patrol detained near the border a car and 6 people who planned to ship 12 boxes of cigarettes to Romania. Four of the detainees were wearing wetsuits, because they planned to cross the river portion of the border.

   Currently, all detainees were taken to the border guard unit for drawing up reports on administrative offense under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine". The tobacco products were also delivered to the border guard department and will be subsequently handed over to the SFS employees.

    Customs officers will forward the case to court, which will determine the sentence.
