In Transcarpathia, border guards detained a criminal who had escaped from the colony

A citizen of Ukraine wanted by the police for committing serious crimes was detained yesterday by border guards in Transcarpathia.

Residents of the border area noticed a car with the driver and a passenger moving at a high speed towards the border and then returning without the passenger and reported it to border guards of the Chop detachment. The Response Team caught the offender 10 meters from the border with Slovakia. The man did not have any documents but he said that he was a resident of Ternopil region. Also, during the filtration measures, it was found out that the man had been convicted under Part 2 of Art.121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("grievous bodily harm inflicted by a group of persons or with a particular cruelty") and since 2012 was serving a sentence in the colony, which he had escaped from.

The detainee was handed over to officers of the National Police.
