Today, July 14, upon receipt of $ 1,000 of undue benefit, prosecutors of Transcarpathian region together with the Security Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region detained a detective of Uzhgorod city police.
It was established that the police officer demanded this amount from a Transcarpathian for not bringing him to justice.
The criminal offense under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of unlawful benefit by an official combined with extortion) was registered in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations.
The official faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years, with confiscation of property and with a special forfeiture.
