In Transcarpathia, an “amber customs officer” was caught

Flows of contraband amber run through Transcarpathia too. Another high-profile arrest occurred in the region.

In Transcarpathia, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a customs officer who was covering smuggling of amber.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained one of the managers of the customs post "Vylok" of the Transcarpathian customs office for a bribe of 12,500 hryvnia.

For this money, the customs officer facilitated in the smuggling of 10 kilograms of amber to one of the EU countries.

The matter of notifying the detainee of being suspected of a crime under Art. 368 (receipt of undue advantage) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is being decided.
