In Transcarpathia, a one-year-old child died because of a candle

As we already reported, in the village of Poroshkovo, parents’ negligence led to the death of a one-year-old girl who was left at home with her older sister. Parents will be brought to justice for their actions.
According to Transcarpathian regional police, on January 13, at 9:40 pm, the police had received a report about the death of a one-year-old child in Poroshkovo. Doctors reported that thermal burns had been found on the child’s body.
The investigators, who arrived at the scene established the preliminary circumstances of the incident. During the examination of the scene, it was found out that there were no amenities in the building, which is located in a field, 400 meters from the village: no gas, no electricity, no water.
The investigation established the circumstances and the tragic incident. It was found out that around 21:00 the child’s parents – a 29-year-old father and a 17-year-old mother – left their children unattended for a long time and left home. They left a lit candle near the bed with the child, which later became a source of a fire. As a result, the child sufferred significant burns, which probably caused the death. Her older sister was also at home, but she was not injured.
The police opened criminal proceedings over the tragic incident under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, parental neglect, which caused grave consequences.
At the same time, the police, together with the social services, are checking the living conditions of the children and will initiate removal of the other child from the family
