The expert demanded from a citizen a bribe for an expert opinion. Employees of the Economy Protection Office of the National Police of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region in conjunction with prosecutors arrested the offender at the premises of the district department.
The police received information that one of the experts of the District Department of Forensic Medical Expertise was demanding a remuneration from a citizen. The doctor demanded $ 700 for performing a forensic medical examination and issuance of the expert opinion indicating the seriousness of injuries.
Thus, on January 19, when receiving undue benefit, at the premises of the District Department, the police detained the forensic expert. The police officers seized from the offender the cash received by him.
The investigation department of the National Police in Transcarpathian region opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art.368 (Acceptance of offer, promise or receipt of undue benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The offender faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of 5 to 10 years, with disqualification to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to 3 years, with confiscation of property, – the Economy Protection Office of the National Police of Ukraine informs
