In Transcarpathia, a consulate of Romania was opened and the payment for visas for residents of the 50-km zone was canceled

The opening of the Consulate of Romania took place in the village of Solotvyno in Tyachiv district.  The opening ceremony was attended by the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, as well as the Consul General of Romania in Chernivtsi Eleonora Moldovan, the head of Tyachiv DSA Vasyl Demyanchuk, the head of the RSA Hennadiy Moskal.
The officials of the two countries laid flowers to the monument to Prince Stefan cel Mare in the center of Solotvyno and met with the public.

During the official talks, the Ministers Pavlo Klimkin and Lazer Komenesku signed an agreement to abolish the payment for national visas for residents of 50 km border area.

Also the parties discussed the issues of cross-border and regional cooperation, development of the infrastructure of Ukrainian-Romanian state border, educational problems of the Ukrainian minority in Romania and the Romanian minority in Ukraine. As noted at the meeting, the opening of the consulate is a guarantee of stable relations between the two countries and demonstrates Romania’s confidence in stable relationships of the border areas of both countries.
