In Transcarpathia, a 17-year-old boy was killed because of jealousy

Because of jealousy, a fellow villager stabbed a 17-year-old boy in the chest. The incident occurred in the town of Bushtyno at about 7:00 pm
According to the communication department of the Transcarpathian regional police, on January 7, at 8.35pm, the Tyachiv Police Department received from the district hospital doctors a report that a 17-year-old resident of Bushtyno had been hospitalized with a penetrating chest wound. The boy died from his injuries.
It was reported that police officers had quickly identified the preliminary circumstances of the crime and detained the offender.
“Law enforcement officers found out that the victim had been stabbed by his fellow villager, a 22-year-old man, for motives of jealousy. The incident happened on Molodizhna street in the town of Bushtyno, at about 7:00 pm. After that, the offender fled the scene. Policemen found him in the nearby village, at his relatives’ place", – the report states.
The man was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators have started criminal proceedings on the grounds of Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Murder). The sanction of the article provides for a sentence in the form of imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
