On Friday, November 14, from 12 to 14.00, on Teatralna Sq. in Uzhgorod, on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, there will take place a number of events aimed at the prevention of diabetes, during which a screening for blood sugar level will be conducted.
Also, on the same day, at 13.00, in the conference hall of the regional health information-analytical center (Teatralna Sq., 6), the "School of diabetes" will open.

As of the beginning of 2014, 35,248 adults and 228 children under 18 were registered in Transcarpathian region. Last year, 3,555 new cases of diabetes were found, including 27 among children. Currently, there are 285,300 people in the risk group for diabetes mellitus. During the first 9 months of 2014, 2,582 adults with diabetes have been detected in the region. The incidence of diabetes is 2.68 to 1 thousand of adults. The number of diabetic patients requiring insulin therapy is 5,306 adults and 228 children. The remaining patients with diabetes are tretated with hypoglycohaemic pills or diet.
