Yesterday, August 5, 2 men with packages were spotted on the bank of the Tisa River on the border with Romania. The border guards managed to catch one of them, the other one escaped.
The smugglers tried to smuggle 8 boxes with 4,170 packs of cigarettes into the neighboring country. Reports of administrative violations were drawn up against the detainee, and the case was sent to court.
Another incident occurred at the checkpoint "Dyakove".
Border guards together with customs officers inspected a 2007 Mercedes Benz. A 40-year-old driver tried to carry cigarettes in the cavity under the car’s hull, as well as in the air filter.
In total, 200 packs of cigarettes of various brands were found in the car.
The cars and the cigarettes were confiscated. Their total value was 277 thousand hryvnias, the website of the city of Uzhgorod informed.
