Transcarpathian Regional Radio Station in Hungarian "Pulzus" ("Pulse") from now on will be broadcasting on FM 92,1 MHz.
Previously it was called Sion Radio and broadcast locally – only in Beregovo or over the Internet. This project will be commercialized and will be broadcasting 24 hours a day throughout Transcarpathia.
Editor Zoltan Birta says that the idea of such a station sprung long time ago, because Transcarpathian Hungarians wanted to receive news in their native language. "Radio Sion" was founded in 1998 by the Transcarpathian Reformed Church. Only last year, the radio station received the permit for its own radio frequency from the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine. Radio programs are oriented primarily at youth and Hungarian-speaking population of the region. However, the broadcasting, according to the legislation of Ukraine, can not be solely in the language of a national minority, so it should be performed in two languages, including the state one.
Tomorrow in Beregovo, on Kossuth Square there will be celebration on the occasion of the first Hungarian radio station in Transcarpathia, which will last for two days. In particular, they planned programs for children, and various attractions, entertainment program involving popular bands of Beregovo, Uzhgorod and Hungary.
