In the reserve poachers shot an elk

In the night, the master of the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve was inspecting the tract in the forest near the village of Yasinya in Rakhiv district. Around one o’clock he heard a shot, and when he approached the place, he saw a car VAZ-21099. Upon his arrival a few strangers got in the car and drove away, informed Zakarpattya online.

After checking the surrounding area, the nature protector found in a ditch near the site a killed elk. The applicant promptly reported this fact to the police and soon on a street of Rakhiv investigative team detained a VAZ-21099. The car was driven by a 40-year-old resident of the village of Verkhnye Vodyane in Rakhiv district and in the car there was a passenger – a 55-year-old resident of Velyky Bychkiv. The latter was carrying a 16 caliber hunting rifle and 14 rounds of ammunition for it.

Both men were taken to the district police station where it was found out that this gun had recently fired, as evidenced by the characteristic smell of hunting gunpowder. The police seized the gun and sent it for expert examination.

For killing of an elk, the criminals face statutory responsibility, the circumstances of the case are to be determined by the investigation, reported PR Department of the Office of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region.
