On the Saint Nicholas Day, December 19, hundreds of children from all over the region gathered in Uzhgorod, where with the participation of the chairman of the regional council Ivan Baloha and the Governor Oleksandr Ledyda a solemn lighting of the main Transcarpathian Christmas tree took place.
The officials congradulated the kids with the day of St. Nicholas and the forthcoming New Year and Christmas holidays. "Our Christmas tree is beautiful and unique. It is so because songs and carols from different parts of our multinational region will be sung near it. There are many holidays ahead – the New Year and a bright Christmas. There is, probably, no child who would not have dreams. And I want, dear children, to wish all of you that your dreams would come true today, tomorrow and throughout your life" – the regional council chairman Ivan Baloha greeted the guests.
The head of RSA Oleksandr Ledyda also greeted the children.
The festival continued with theatrical performance – informed the press service of the regional council.
