And the next day (May 5th), another monument by Mykhailo Kolodko will be opened. This time, the author chose a rather unexpected subject: the sculptor perpetuated… the Knyahynya meteorite. Recall that on June 9, 1866, it exploded at an altitude of 40 km above the village of Knyahynya in Velyky Berezny district. Its largest fragment was found by a resident of the village Vasyl Kryvyanyk about 2 meters deep in the ground. Later, forester Anton Pokorny bought the found meteorite from Kryvyanyk for two oxes, and then profitablely resold it to the Vienna Imperial Museum (Modern Museum of Natural History), where the meteorite has been kept since.

The opening will take place near Olbracht street on Saturday, May 5, at 13.00.
