In Svalyava, young vandals damaged gravestones on a cemetary (PHOTOS)

The police opened a criminal proceedings over desecration of graves, the Depo.Zakarpattya informs referring to the regional police.

Yesterday, August 21, a resident of Svalyava reported to the police about damaged gravestones at a cemetery. 

The investigative team, which arrived at the scene, recorded the incident and identified the suspects. At the crime scene, law enforcement officers saw 24 overthrown gravestones.

The police officers interviewed local residents who pointed to a group of minors who often hang out there. Having gathered the evidence, the law enforcement officers identified the persons involved in the crime.

Those were five boys aged 8 to 13. The minors were interviewed in the presence of their parents. The children confessed to the crime. They told that they were playing in the cemetery and then began to push the gravestones for fun. At the moment, the minors have been released home.

The criminal acts have signs of an offense under Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (desecration of graves). The investigation continues.
