Around 18.15, on November 10, Rakhiv police received a report of an accident with victims in the village of Roztoky. The investigative team arrived at the scene.
As the police found out, a VAZ-2109 driven by a 24-year-old resident of the village of Bohdan in Rakhiv district, had hit a 60-year resident of the village of Roztoky, who was walking in the opposite direction.
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a closed head injury and a broken leg.
The driver fled after committing the traffic accident, leaving the car at the scene. He was found and detained by a patrol police crew. The car was taken to the police impound lot.
According to the test, both men involved in the accident – the driver and the victim – were intoxicated.
The police started criminal proceeding over the traffic rules violation. The report of administrative violation for driving while intoxicated was drawn up against the driver.
The circumstances of the accident will be established by investigators.
