In the course of search operations over the fact of a crime, the policemen found out that a village resident had committed two more thefts.
A prior of the Orthodox Church reported to Rakhiv district police department that an unknown person had damaged a window glass in the church. Law enforcement officers found out that the crime had been committed by a 20-year-old local resident.
The investigator of Rakhiv district police department registered the offense in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations. In the course of search operations, officers of the Criminal Investigation Sector solved two thefts. The collected evidence pointed to the involvement of the aforementioned citizen.
The man committed one of the thefts from a local church. By breaking a window, he entered inside and stole from there 200 UAH. The next day, the thief, by breaking the padlock on the door of a local store, entered inside and stole 130 UAH.
During interrogation, the young man confessed that he had committed the thefts while being intoxicated and spent illegal income on vodka.
– The thefts were committed back in 2012, the thief hoped to stay unpunished, but law enforcement officers gathered the evidence proving his involvement in committing those thefts. Currently, the criminal proceedings over this fact have been initiated under Part 3 of Art.185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft, coupled with breaking and entering) which provides for punishment by deprivation of liberty for a term of three to six years – the head of Rakhiv district police department Vitaliy Shymonyak said.
