According to Siklós Gabriella, the spokeswoman for the National Water Resources Management Agency (OVF), heavy rainfall in the Upper Tisa catchment area in Transcarpathia over the past 24 hours has led to an increase in water flow in the Hungarian section of the Tisa River, the MyHungary.Net informs.
The monitoring service of the Water Resources Management Agency, using the system of cameras, showed that up to 20 pieces of household waste gets to the river from the Ukrainian territory, mostly from Transcarpathia. The pollution rate is determined by experts based on the number of bottles passing through the sector per minute: over the last 15 years, the rate has been 50 bottles per minute, but during floods it reaches 300-500 bottles per minute.
Another 6 mm of precipitation is expected in this part of the Upper Tisa catchment area, which will lead to a further increase in the water level, and as a result of the water level rise, an increase in the amount of household waste, PET bottles and sludge is expected.
