Three children from the school No. 10 in Mukachevo were taken straight to ICU, and two more were taken to the infectious ward of the regional children’s hospital.
According to preliminary information, they sufferred burns of the upper respiratory tract. It is believed that an unknown substance was sprayed in the school.
"Three of them were admitted in serious condition, with unconsciousness, convulsions. Three more – with moderate poisoning – they complained about severe headache and nausea. Later, one more child was brought by parents. At present, three children are in intensive care, all are conscious, their condition is more or less stable. All children are receiving the full scope of necessary medical care," – the chief doctor of Transcarpathian Regional Children’s Hospital Roman Shnitser said.
According to the school staff, one of the students probably sprayed some substance in the classroom, causing some of the children to become ill. Seven students were taken by an ambulance to the hospital.
According to the Rescue Service, the incident happened today, September 13. Rescuers are working at the scene, the municipal inspectorate rapid response team has also arrived, and the circumstances of the incident are being established.
All the victims are 6th grade students aged 11-12.
