In Mizhhirya district, villagers blocked the vehicles of illegal loggers and called the police

The police are checking the legality of logging opereations in Mizhhirya district.

According to the Communications Department of the Transcarpathian Regional Police, yesterday, May 11, the editor-in-chief of a local newspaper reported to the police that illegal logging was taking place near the settlements of Richka and Tyushka in Mizhhirya district. About a hundred local residents blocked the operation of the machinery until the arrival of law enforcement officers.

Officers from the local police station arrived at the scene, inspected the scene and began an investigation into the incident. The police have already reqeusted the documents and are checking the grounds and legality of the loggers’ actions.

During the inspection, all the circumstances of the incident will be established and upon its completion a decision will be made in accordance with current legislation.
