Employees of the SE "Mizhhirya forestry" together with students of the school forestry and fisheries inspectors of Transcarpathia performed stocking of mountain rivers in Mizhhirya district.
To help the trout settle after the stocking, the forestry workers are building artificial falls on small rivers and strengthening the banks of the waterways.
"The trout is a valuable traditional fish species for our region: both local people and tourists like it. This year, workers of Mizhhirya forestry are paying more attention to the development of aquaculture. Therefore, 15,000 fingerlings of the royal fish were released in the rivers in all 7 forestries. We have set out to restore the population of the trout in the rivers where natural populations are nearly extinct and to increase the recoverable reserves for the needs of local residents and professional and amateur fishing. I am sure that fish stocks in our water bodies will increase significantly, if we care for their preservation and enhancement" – the director of the forestry Ivan Barna said.
