On May 23, at 8:15, a fire started in a residential building in the town of Mizhhirya on Shevchenko street. The villagers noticed smoke coming out of the neighbor’s house and called the Rescue Service "101".
Rescuers of the 4th State Fire and Rescue Unit of the town of Mizhhirya were immediately sent to the scene. Because of the strong smoke, firefighters were using respiratory protection devices. In a room of the house, the rescuers found the unconscious 54-year-old owner of the house. They immediately took the man out and referred him to paramedics for transportation to Mizhhirya district hospital. According to doctors, the condition of the victim was serious. Fortunately, rescuers helped him in time and saved the man’s life.
The fire on an area of 12 square meters was contained at 8:20 and extinguished at 08:30. 8 rescuers and 2 pieces of machinery were engaged.
The fire destroyed the bed and household items, as well as partially damaged walls and ceilings. The cause of the fire is to be established. One of the probable causes is negligence during smoking.
